I have nothing good to say about the surgery. The quality of care is apporling. You can never get an appointment. I was on hold for 20mins only to be told that I couldn't have a home visit for my 83 yr old mom who I believed had a water infection. I was told if I was concerned I could phone for an ambulance. I couldn't belive what I was hearing. This is not very good standard of care. My persistent paid off as I demanded to speak with someone else. I soon got an appointment. What a joke

The worst doctor's surgery you can imagine. The waiting room is too hot, the automatic doors don't work, the receptionists are rude and unhelpful. The doctors are not great, and you have to wait at least an hour to be seen for your appointment. Trying to get an appointment in the first place is incredibly hard. Register at a different surgery, don't go here. It's awful.

The receptionists at Oakengates medical practice are rude, and hardly ever answer the phone. During my pregnancy, the GPs had conflicting views about my medication and changed it. My consultant later said that was the worst thing they could have done. Dr Wong told me I was killing my baby by 'choosing' to take my medication. My baby was born with tongue tie and I had to wait for over an hour in the waiting room for our appointment. Waiting that long is hard enough at the best of times, but with a newborn baby it is unbearable. I asked the receptionist what was taking so long, but I just got 'well, you're with the duty doctor, so you don't really have an appointment'. If that's the case, why was I booked in for 'an appointment'??! And if I'd have known that I wouldn't have gone. I saw Dr Wong, who confirmed my daughter's tongue tie. She said she would refer my daughter to Neonatal that day, and if I hadn't heard from them by the next Friday, to give them a call. I hadn't heard by Friday, and I did try phoning Oakengates on Friday but I was on hold constantly, and in the end gave up through sheer frustration. On Monday I managed to get through and the receptionist said the only thing she could do was tell Dr Wong. I decided to phone the hospital to find out what was happening. I was informed by then that they hadn't even received our referral. So back on the phone to Oakengates, the receptionist then informs me that Dr Wong sent a referral letter on the Friday- a week after my appointment. So my daughter and I have been waiting, while Dr Wong hadn't even bothered to send the letter which she promised she'd do a week earlier. I have had it with Oakengates medical practise. I am moving to Donnington. I am now having to go private because of being messed about for over a week, my daughter is struggling to feed, she has reflux and colic and I have pain through breastfeeding. All of which might have been sorted if Dr Wong had sent the letter the day she said she would. DO NOT REGISTER AT THIS SURGERY. Dr Northern was amazing and I can't rate him highly enough. If only all the doctors were like him.
